Great day to stay inside...
...and begin my new poncho. Hubby said 6 inches so far.
I have read of dog hair being spun into yarn. I got to wondering, after vacuuming up yet more hair shed by my long haired black cat, whether anyone has ever heard of using cat hair in spinning yarn? Plop's fur is really soft and Long enough to spin. Plop is pictured below
Here's my first (and probably last, although I did buy yarn for the next one) Papillon. I wanted to learn new techniques. I did! Short rows, color changes, lots of frogging!
Hi! Can anyone tell me what style of knitting this is?
Hi, my Italian grandmother taught me this, what I'm guessing is a type of knitting, when I was very young. Unfortunately she never knew the English name and I cannot remember the Italian name. Would anyone know what this style is called? It is almost like a plait.
Excuse my very crude tools.
Thank you so much!
I keep seeing cute patterns for wrist warmers, but I'm wondering just how effective they are. If it's cold and gloves/fingerless mitts are being worn, what is the purpose of the wrist warmers?, I have read that some people wear them on the wrist and at times on their ankles. If they really are an effective accessory, I'd be interested in making a bunch for quick gifts and as a way to use up small amounts of yarn and to maybe practice learning stitches, fair isle, etc. I just don't want to make something that will just sit in a drawer. I'm really interested in everyone's thoughts.
I have been busy knitting lately, but I've had some problems downloading photos-- so I'll be posting my latest pics for a few days.
These were done for a cousin's grandchildren. It doesn't show in the photo but the turquoise yarn had bits of glitter in it.
Kassiani in Hedgehog Fibers
Another version of Dee OKeefe Kassiani. I just love Dee’s patterns they are straight forward and easy to follow.
Here I was days ago bragging about not keeping a stash.
Well, this past weekend I was given two boxes with yarn. Was I going to say "no"?
first Christmas present done
I intend to knit 5 pieces for immediate family. Here is the first one a tunic for my daughter to be worn over leggings.
Sideways knit with short rows at the bottom to get a little flare. Back and front are knitted in one piece and the one remaining side closed with kitchener stitch. Sleeves are knitted sideways too.
I'm really getting into this colorwork knitting!! It's scared me before so it's been a challenge but one that's getting easier and easier with each hat. I'm also getting used to following charts! I have no written pattern for the green, red, white hat as I simply found a nordic design in a book from the library and encorporated it into making a hat. The white and red one is simply reversing the colors of the snowflake hat I posted previously. I've been experimenting with needle sizes, number of cast on stitches, number of increase stitches for the design, etc. and I think I've finally got it down pat for my size head. Now I've just got to adjust for men, teens, kids, and babies. hahaha Thanks for looking!
