Anybody here like Beige?
I am currently working my way through stash (Isn't everybody?) I have some ugly beige cotton yarn, that I don't even know where it came from, but waste not, want not, so am using it for dishcloths. These will not be my favorite cloths, they lack the zing of my blue and white scrubby, and my hot pink microfiber cloths may not even want to share the same drawer with them. Beige is such an ugly color, drab, colorless actually. Anybody here like the color? Anybody willing to stick up for my much maligned dishcloths???
Grey and white baby cardigan
I used the yarn that was left over from my last 2 knits to make this little cardigan so it cost me nothing! I used Waterwheel 890 again as a base omitting the pattern stitch from it.
In between larger projects I always turn to knitting socks. They go to friends, family, and charity.
How long do *you* leave lifelines in?
I’m knitting a lace shawl and am using lifelines as I have before. As I knit along, I keep putting lifelines in, but I don’t take any out, not even the very early ones. I feel almost like that would “jinx” my project. By the time I finish my projects, I have lots of lifelines. I take them all out at the end.
I thought it would be fun to hear what *you* do?
Little Pink Elephant
My daughter-in-law asked if I could make an elephant for her nephew and his wife who are expecting a baby girl and I knew right off I had the perfect pattern in Toys from the Toybox Part II by Gypsycream. The yarn is Peter Pan Precious and I love that it is washable making it a perfect choice to use on a baby's toy. Hope you enjoy seeing it.
Hi everyone, I just wanted to share the 111 kitties I made. I was inspired by sjlegrandma, a member here from Melbourne, Australia. I live in Arizona for 4 months of the year and I knit with a wonderful group of ladies from
Desert Hills Presbyterian Church. The church makes upward of 300 Christmas boxes each year. They send them off to
impoverished countries for the children. They include washcloths, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and a small toy etc.
We make the washcloths and we try to make ( knit or sew) most of the toys. So when I saw the post from sjlegrandma,
I was inspired to make as many as I could for the boxes. So these 111 kitties are my donation to the Christmas boxes.
I used up a lot of scraps, got donations , and I also bought yarn . I think they came out pretty cute. I hope the children
will enjoy them . Thank you Sjlegrandma for the inspiration!
I learned a new word today...
The avoidance of all other tasks due to an affinity for needles, hooks, yarn and thread.
Now he wants doilies!
Over the years my husband has often mentioned how his grandmother used to make doilies. Like, tons of them, they were all over the house. Apparently she was one of those who had crocheted for so many years that she could make a fancy doily in a few hours with her eyes closed and her hands behind her back LOL (ok I exaggerate, but you get my drift). But somehow he didn't inherit any of the doilies, and he regrets that. (You can tell he loved his gramma!)
But I've only ever knitted, and he understood that there's a difference, so he didn't expect me to make them.
Now, I've learned to crochet. I told him the possibility of learning how to do the doilies, and I swear he actually drove me to Michaels to get the small hooks and crochet thread!
Now how do I say no to that? As soon as I'm finished with my current baby blanket, I'll be busy for at least the next 2 years! Oh but my stash......
Well at least I won't be bored!
"Okay, Mommy, it says 1 DC in next DC around. Got that?"
My last sweat
My last sweat is knitted in silk 100 % of BDF. I have it without doing model according to my inspiration
