Last week San Diego enjoyed our county Yarn Crawl. I won a raffle at my LYS, Yarns at Border Leather! I'm so excited, the yarns are just beautiful. The Crawl was so much fun. If you have a yarn crawl in your area, I recommend it.
My auction gift
YarnInspirations had a draw for some free yarn and you had to tell them what you would do with it if you won. I said I would knit an afghan for the Cat Chance auction (TNR program). I won and here is the afghan I made....(like I needed free yarn!)
Final Two Projects of summer 2017
Since March of 2017 I have made 15 shawls and 2 cowls. The two shawls shown are my last for the summer of 2017.
The brown/white one is Lisa Hannes "Stone Layers". The green/blue linen stitch one is called "Noro Woven Stitch Shawl".
New to Crocheting
Hi everyone. My name is Candyce. I'm retired and live in Niceville, Florida, which is in the panhandle between Pensacola and Panama City Beach. I'm new to crocheting and have really enjoyed making simple beaded wrap bracelets. I found the attached bracelet on Pinterest and want to give it a try. However, I am having the worst time finding similar yarn. Looking on the internet hasn't helped. Should I use a worsted, sport weight, or a yarn in the 0, 1, 2, etc., categories? I even emailed an Etsy seller who told me she uses cotton--not much help. I'm hoping one of you expert crocheters will be able to suggest a non-fuzzy yarn. Niceville has a Michael's and a Hobby Lobby nearby, but I can always order on line. Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated. Thanks much.
2 yrns = 3 pr sox
I usually use two 50 gr balls of sock yarn to knit a pair of socks, but have a bit leftover.
For these ladies' size medium socks I reduced the leg length to five inches and was able to knit three pairs of socks from 100 gr of two different yarns. Feels like a bonus pair and playing with the colors was fun!
Socks: finally finished
These are socks I've had on my needles for far too long, since the beginning of March!!! I started them when my mom was in the hospital while I would sit with her, after she passed I put them away and just didn't want to work on them too often. I kept looking at them and saying I need to finish them but it seemed like it took forever. I finally put my mind to them and finished them a couple days ago, now when I wear them I will have a bit of mom with me!!!
Keeping very busy
Some projects I've been working on.
The Christmas stockings were my attempt to copy a vintage stocking with personalized decoration. No pattern.
The baby blanket was just the use of an open knotted stitch (similar to star stitch) to desired size and crochet edge.
The elephant was from Julie Williams' design on Little Cotton Rabbits, Girl Elephant in Frondy Crock.
And of course, it's Dee O'Keefe's design for the Ashton Shawlette, done in a hand-dyed yarn called Summer Squash, by Deep Dyed Yarns.
Thank you for looking.
I finally made an all white tree. I've made the green and white before to use as my Christmas Tree for the years I spent traveling in my motor home. It's a Hershners pattern from a I received as a gift in the 80's. The pictures don't do it justice.
Little pink cardigan
This is one of the rare occasions when I knitted a pattern as it was intended to be knitted! Yes, it's Waterwheel 890 again!
This time it didn't jump into my trolley!
So Aldi have their once a year craft stock in, last year a load of wool jumped into my trolley totally of its own accord!
I thought let's try again and see what happens, I walked up and down the aisle, saw the lovely Aran, chunky, double knit, and the super chunky, a whole range of colours right before my eyes.
Did it jump into my trolley? NO!!
Lots of women looking at the stock, I thought to my self 'get in there before it goes'
So, as you will see from my photograph, I gave it a helping hand and bought it all home with me! At £3.65 for 4 100gram balls, £3. 65 for 400 grams of Aran/chunky I simply couldn't leave it there.
Now need to match the wool up to the patterns I have, HAPPY DAYS!!!
