Just came home from Walmart. While there my daughter & I found several totes of yarn on clearance. All brands. thought they were clearing out the yarn department but there is still quite a bit left not on clearance.

A Friend who is a walmart shopper said that our local walmart just lowered the price on Red Heart. Guess walmart is out to really compete with the craft big box stores!

Too many people, myself included, use Red Heart yarns for them to be going ouot of business. Michaels may not be selling as much Red Heart as they do other yarns.

I like Michaels Impecable. It only takes one skein to make the crocheted potato chip scarf! (if you use the solid)

I had several skeins in my stash from last year. I thought how stupid of me to buy only one skein of different colors. I knew I had bought them to make scarfs. I got the pattern out and did one in an evening. Then I said, oh that's why I bought only 1 of the diff. colors, haha to me.

michael's is tendy and posh. red heart is probably just too average for michael's anymore. i stopped shopping there over a year ago, at least locally they are less crafts and more just glue together kits and ready mades. for soccoer moms who like to think they are "homespun".

Michael's Trendy and Post - really? I found their yarns common and boring so i don't buy from there either.

Michaels does seem to be carrying less of Red Heart and more of their store brand. Joanns is carrying more Red Heart now - even the fancier boutique acrylics. - At least in Northern California

Oh YES!!!! if you remember when they first opened they were more of a Import store with some cool craft supply's now they are more of a all around party/craft store... although I have to admit its been awhile since I have been in one... I remember when they first opened thinking it was the greatest store around... but very upity and high end with great prices.. I remember they had 'ewoks' in there so this must of been the early 80's when our town first got one..

Our Wal Mart had the hed people from the head quarters in this summer and the whole craft sewing dept got a make over and new larger amount of yarn isles and better lighting to see the material lots of yarn on sale and i got a lot that way and they at end of a like fall are putting fall yarns on sale before the spring colors come in and so they have more room for Christmas yarns they have been in for a few weeks now but the turnover in yarn is a lot better now .

Those "soccer moms" are also probably moms who have full times jobs and are trying to fit in fun crafty stuff for their kids! I don't think it's fair to judge them like that! Not everyone can do it all 😉
