I was informed today at a baby shower that my hubby's Aunt is 'upset' with me.

I crocheted a very pretty 6 point star afghan for her for Christmas.
But, I made her daughter 3 baby blankets for the baby shower. And Auntie got a little upset because she only got one..

I love this family..lol Well I asked Auntie Peg what she would like me to make her. And I should of guessed it. But the woman is in love with Peacocks. She has 11 of them..lol
So she asked for a peacock afghan.

I've been at googles mercy for the past 2 hours trying to find something that I can make that will look as close to peacocks as possible.
With a ton of searching I am only finding shawls and wraps. All have been single color. Auntie is wanting the colors as well..

Any help or suggestions would be great. I'm at a loss on what to do. I am no designer either..lol
Thanks in advance.

You were fast Jtkdesigns.

The first one I have saved on my computer. Not sure I'm good enough to try and figure out the chart + fair isle with more than 2 colors at a time.

The second I have yet to find the pattern for it. All I have found were the same picture you posted.

That second one is really great looking, but I would change the peach color to a turqoise and add some emerald green.... (Does auntie not realize that an adult sized blanket takes more yarn and time?) It is nice to have your work in such high demand though..... Good luck.

NOT a knitting graph! (Knitters' graphs have rectangular boxes, because the stitches in stockinette stitch are shorter/fatter.
It would be suitable for working in single crochet or for embroidering (cross-stitch is usual) over a large tunisian/afghan stitch blanket.

I think I can wing the second one. I am really good at crochet. A lot more than I am at knitting.

So I think with the color changes suggested and the picture I'll give it a go.

And yes my Auntie knows how much work goes into the items I make. She just loves my work that much..lol I've made her one blanket. But I made her sister (Mother in law) 6 afghans. So she has decided I need to make up the difference..lol

Don't just limit yourself to afghan patterns either. Have a look around and see what is available:

If you decide to do this one have a look at the abbreviations and do a global replace so that you don't get confused with the pattern:

She wants to you to make afghans for her peacocks? They'd tear them to shreds in no time, their feet are lethal.
