Why Would You Ever Want to Pay For Knitting and Crochet Patterns or Lessons When You Can Get All That for Free?
Read this:

If you are a beginner, intermediate, advanced, or a professional knitter, then the benefits of signing up for our free weekly knitting e-mail newsletter are:

• We cover hand knitting, machine knitting, and crochet.

• Each week you'll be receiving new tips and techniques.

• Daily, you'll be receiving a knitting message board digest with the latest knitting pictures, discussions and patterns.

• If you ever have a question or need help, you can always ask, and we'll cover your question in the following newsletter issue.

• Discover the fastest way to knit (and to crochet) a sock... while keeping the perfect heel and making sure the sock fits (not many knitters know this).

• Find out how to figure out how much yarn you need for a pattern if the pattern doesn't specify it (works for any project, a real life-saver sometimes).

• Learn how to pick up a dropped stitch, even from several rows below. It happens to absolutely everyone at some point. But don't worry, there exists a really simple fix.

• And if you ever run out of yarn, find out how to join any yarn in the middle of any project.

• If you can't find the pattern that you need, or if you don't know which pattern would be most appropriate for a specific project, then you can ask our other users to help you figure it out. We even have a dedicated "Pattern Requests" section on our website that's all about finding new patterns.

• The same goes for any problems and questions about specific techniques. We have experienced users who are always helping those in need with just the right advice.

• And of course, as I said it's all completely FREE!

• Let me repeat that. Since for some reason a lot of people contact us asking if the membership is really free: we are a social website for knitters and crocheters, so we don't sell anything, and we don't charge any fees. It's as simple as that.

Enter your name and e-mail address below, and you'll be instantly added to our knitting mailing list distribution. Right away, you'll get access to more knitting-related material (pictures, patterns, tips) than contained in all knitting books and magazines you could ever buy. And you'll get all that for free.

You'll be able to talk and share ideas with more knitters than you could meet if you attended all the largest trade shows. And you'll be able to do all that without leaving your house!

Don't delay! Join the best knitting and crochet community on the Internet.

Does anyone else get this?
When reading KP I keep getting popups saying "1girl wants to chat with you". There is a cancel option which I always use but I wondered what is going on.

I hae in the last couple of days started to get a lot of pop-ups. I click on the x to make it go away. Is there a better way do you think?

It depends upon your browser program. For Firefox, at the top of your browser page you should see a menu: File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, Help. Click on "Tools". Under that, click on "Options". Then click on the "Content" tab. You will see a box to check "Block Pop Up Windows." Check the box and then click OK.

For Internet Explorer, you will have the same initial menu. Click on "Tools." Then under that is "Pop-up Blocker" which gives the option to block.

If yours doesn't look this way, click on "Help" and type in "pop up windows" and you should get some instructions. The options you find will depend on what Browser you have.

I generally use my iPad to read this forum and I haven't seen any pop-ups....yet.

It could also mean you have a virus so running a scan would be good.

Be careful. Don't ever click on these pop-ups. It might be a "redirect virus" which is really difficult to remove. I had it on my last computer and it took Norton experts months to remove.

I use a pop-up blocker, so I am not getting the pop-ups, but for the past few days, when I try to use the back button on my browser in KP, it often won't go back because it wants to go to an ad site that has "adnxs" in its address. I looked it up. This is a malware site. Either my pop-up blocker or virus protection is preventing my computer from going there.

I wonder if the KP site has a virus of some sort that is trying to spread itself.

Yes! Most of the time I can't even see this site for all the ads and it's very disgusting.

Try ADBLOCK Plus-you can download it for free and it's safe to use. No more pop-ups and no more ads in the middle of the page or anywhere on the KP pages! You can download version for any browser you use.

I don't think you can expect this site to take care of all your problems. you need to control what you can on your computers. there is only so much one can do. and even with the few pop up adds we get on this site I think it is sooooo worth it and they do a very good job considering the multitude of people who congregate here.

I'm on an iPad and go straight to KP from emails, so don't know what a browser is. Sorry I am very computer illiterate.

By the way, I only have this problem on the KP site, hence my thinking that KP might have a virus somehow attached to it.

I take it back. I just had the same thing happen on the NY Times site.

I should add that I only get this on KP. I get ads which are on the page usually about things I have recently looked at. I don't mind these so much but the other one sounds a bit on the seamy side. All very big brother really.
