I was given quite a few circular knitting needles made by Leisure Arts, from England, and I believe had a date of 1996 on them (can't find the packaging at the moment). I had a chance to try a pair, and really like the tips, but the cord is so unmanageable, compared to the Knit Picks that I am used to. What does one do to relax it? Thanks for any advice!
Get your teakettle steaming and hold the cable part in the steam
boil some water, and dip cables in water just up to join for about 10 to 15 seconds, then place on flat surface and weight down. Or you can hold a warm hair dryer over the cables as well. Keep in mind though, some cables are beyond redemption, and your only hope is that as you knit along the weight of the project will help to weigh them down and straighten them enough for use during the project you're working on.
This doesn't solve your problem, but if you were living in Australia, with our temperatures, all you would have to do is put them out in the sun. :-D
i've tried various things but they only work temporarily
A friend gave me one. She said she hated it. Well, so did I, and it wound up in the trash can.
I have some with stiff cables I find after using it for awhile it will behave more.. just your body heat will help.. and if it's warm where you are at then they will soften up faster... you won't want to do magic loop with them but they are fine for straight knitting.. knitting in the round might not be bad either..
