My son wanted an afghan with the Philadelphia Eagles helmet on it. I used a size larger hook than it called for so it would be big enough for him and I left all the ends for him to weave in if he didn't like them. After all these years he still has all the loose ends hanging on the back.
That's terrific! You did an excellent job!
Did you have a pattern for this or did you make your own? I think my husband would love a St. Louis blanket.
I had a pattern. It is in a book called NFL Afghan, Lap Robe and Pillow by Nomis volume 402. I ordered it from Lee Wards Co. and I don't think they are in business anymore.
I found the address for the yarn company that put out the NFL patterns. Nomis Yarn Co., 146 Tosca Dr., PO Boc 239, Stoughton, MA 02072. I got the book in 1987 and have made several afghans. The instruction say to crochet the afghan and then cross stitch the helmet on. I did this for the first on and after that I just crocheted it in as I went. Worked a lot better for me.
WOW,WERE EVER DID YOU GET THIS PATTER? i'AM ALSO AN EAGLES FAN(PHILLYS ALSO)BUT I NOW LIVE IN MISSOURI AND MY NEIGHBOR IS FOREVER TEASING ME ABOUT MY CHOICE OF TEAMS.LOL WONDERFUL WORK,I HOPE HE ENJOYS IT.
