I have seen some cubic circulars by Knit Pro which look very good. Can anyone tell me if they would be ok to do a first time shawl. If not, which is the best for shawl work - wood or metal? Thank you ladies. :-)

Cubic, eh? I have the squares by Kollage square......and all the others......as I collect! LOL!!

First time shawl......

Needle material choice (wood or metal) will need to consider the yarn material, too, Carol......not all yarns slide well on wood, let's say.........so, I'd first take your chosen yarn and swatch with it over your different needle materials......see what you think.......

Now, not all woods are created equal, either.....the nickel (metal) needles - and with the lace point tips (more pointed) is what I'd advise you to get - generally speaking. They'd cover many yarns materials...........

Some folks love the woods, though.......but get a good set.....if the price is cheap.....perhaps the set is also.........?

Good luck, sweetie and I have Addis, Denise, Bates, Sears, Boye, many UK brands, glass, bone, celluloid, annodized aluminum......what am I forgetting......oh, aluminum.......

I keep coming back to metal (nickel Addis) and the sharper needle tips.......lace clicks - the Denise - nothing wrong with those.......

When it comes to needles, you are going to get as many opinions as there are knitters. It all comes down to what you prefer!

They are marvelous. I bought a set of the square ones but I got the wrong length...I like long needles but the stitches slide great
