As I was surfing the web I happened upon Annie's Attic web site. There was a pattern booklet for sale called Crocodile Stitch Fashions Crochet Patterns. I was able to view the items in the booklet but had to purchase to get the patterns There were a couple of hats that looked great and I would like to make them. Does anyone have any pattern using the crocodile stitch? I've visited ALL THREE of the local stores that sell patterns and I couldn't find any that even mentioned the crocodile stitch.
I too was fascinated with the Crocodile stitch when I first saw it. There are quite a few instructional videos on YouTube that explain how to make it. I also found a free hat pattern at Cats-Rockin Crochet Fibre Artist.
Yes, I went to several sites earlier when we were all talking about the crocodile stitch and ran off the instructions from several. I spent most of an afternoon and have to say I couldn't make it come out right - and I've been crocheting for many, many years. I must be making it more difficult than it really is, because the sites say it's easy to do. Wasn't...
I have seen a couple of youtube videos on the crocodile stitch, and I have seen the the same Annie's Attic sale, but have not seen any patterns.
I'm attaching 2 patterns: one for a scarf (easier to learn on) and one for the hat online.
Keep in mind that the "scales" are made up of fpdc (front post double crochet) stitches: 5 fpdc on the same stitch from top to bottom and 5 fpdc on the stitch next to it from the bottom up. Doesn't make sense now.. but it will. ;-) Good luck,

Thank you very much! I was looking for that.
Thanks everyone. Just what I was looking for. I did watch the video and I thought I should be able to do the stitch but OH MY, I don't know about the hat pattern. That will take some concentration I think.
