Friday's Child asked me to post the photos from the cards I sent her for January 2017. Our theme was: It's Winter, but Spring is coming.
I made the 2 cards with the theme -- as usual, I used lots of color. I'll let Friday's Child (Betty) make her comments and I'll just put the photos a a few comments under each.
With Spring "in mind" my embellishments were more on the Spring holidays, Valentines Day and Easter -- die cuts and embossing papers.
Gatefold card with street sign and sentiment, At the Corner of Winter & Spring.
Inside of gatefold card opening --
Fully open gatefold to expose Spring country scene - HAPPY almost Spring
A favorite sentiment is what inspired this card -- Adopt the Pace of Nature, her secret is patience."
Inside of card -- I added under the Spring -- 'coming soon' -- but it wasn't captured of this photo.
Embossed paper -- basket weave for Easter and a lot of others.
Die cuts - lacy hearts to lay on top of the solid colors as well as some colorful dies for flowers.
Easter bunny and egg dies along with bunny and heart brads.
Lastly some fancy papers -- the top ones are the type that have a pattern and when you apply ink via sponge or braying, they show a pattern.
Thank you, birdwatcher7 (Carol) for posting the pictures for me this time. Seems like I can't 'get my act together' to get this done on my own. Shame on me! The first photo is my favorite of the 2 cards - the street sign card! Love lots of things about it...Love gatefold cards, love the stamping/embossing of two designs on the outside, very pretty, one side is a wintery snowflake pattern and the other side is a springy flower design. Clever! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the tall skinny picture of the house and little sheep in the yard! It is so cute! And, she's made it shiny with some kind of markers! Very nicely done!
The seasons card is a clever idea! I like the different colors for the seasons and the little glittery embellishments to represent each of the seasons. Also, very clever is the small flower tucked under the sentiment on either side. The inside...tiny delicate flowers and a sprinkle of snowflakes. Well done! The sentiment is perfect!
Two great cards! But, of course, that wasn't all she sent. Look at that next picture! Embossed sheets for me to be creative with. Aren't they all lovely. (I don't have any of the designs she sent - so they will all be super fun to work with!)
The next picture of embellishments is from her die cut machine....and, just as the picture shows, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them! So pretty and elegant!
Lots of delicate hearts and designs. I really think you guys are doing your best to tempt me into buying a machine and a zillion dies. (I DO love them!!!)....but...I just took my sewing machine in for cleaning/repair and while there....I purchased a 'fancy' sewing machine...haven't got it yet...am "patiently" waiting for it! Will pick it up when my other machine is ready to come home from the 'hospital.' :)
Next picture is so cute! Look at those bunnies and little eggs, just perfect for SPRING and the OXOX's perfect for Valentines. Carol just thought of everything!
The last picture shows several sheets of the paper that Paper Wishes calls 'ColorMe'. It has a shiny design that doesn't pick up color, so you can color the background easily by swishing color over it, which makes the shiny design 'pop!' Beautiful. She enclosed a little sample of it, so you can see how pretty it is! There are 2 sheets each, of 2 designs. She also sent 2 sheets of handmade paper, very pretty, delicate design of a few leaves scatterer around. Gorgeous! The last item is 2 sheets of polka dots! LOVE polka dots!
Carol and I live in the same area, and we thought perhaps we could meet up to exchange our items, but, with Christmas being such a busy time, we couldn't get our schedules to line up. Perhaps the next time we're partners we can do that. It would be fun to SEE each other opening our goodies!
What a great swap this is!!!! Thank you so much for everything, Carol!!!
You know, this is like having Christmas EVERY month, and it's so much fun making our "Christmas gift" for the other person, sharing some of our stash. Love it! It's also fun 'meeting' new friends and trying to think of things they would enjoy. Love it!!!!!!
So glad you like everything!! And it IS like Christmas every month. We do need to meet up next time we are partners. Today is my last day watching my Grandkids while they were off for Christmas break. I need a Rest....But my craft room needs a BIG cleaning !! Wonder which will happen first??
Go rest, birdwatcher!!!! The craft room mess is not dirt...just snippets of paper scattered around, and a zillion different supplies that haven't been tucked away yet...or at least that's what my craft room looks like....most of the time. I clean it up and in two days - it's a mess again. The mess just changes colors...put away/clean up the red and green Christmas mess, and then get out another color and make a mess with that. The 'color of the week' here is light blue. :)
Love that interpretation of a craft room MESS....It just changes colors!!
Maybe I should call it my Chameleon Craft Room!! LOL
Where is everybody???? I want them to see the beautiful things you sent me!!!! :)
Well I don't like that exchange at all. I am still into Christmas and you all post Easter items! Where is the time going. But all fun aside, I think you lucked out with a great Swap. I like both Cards. but think the idea of the first one is quite different and very appealing. The embellishments speak for themselves. You have enough material for several Seasons.
As the team-leader I have a new Order for the coming year. Every Member has to come at least once to my house and clean my Craft-Room. I will be busy recruiting new Members, so I always have a clean room.
What a Fun Group that is. Happy New Year to every one.
If that's the order, Elfie, I QUIT!!!! I don't clean THIS one often...I'm not going to clean YOURS at all! :) You're on your own...well...maybe if I get to KEEP all the things I like...how would that be????
Got an online JoAnn's ad today...they have 2,009 scrapbook/cardmaking items on sale ---all half price! My 'cart' is full already...will have to remove some items or build another room onto the house. hmmmmmmmmmmm! That's tempting! ha! They have mat stacks, 6x6, 8 1/2 x 11, 12x12 paper/cardstock, double side, single side, envelopes, vellum, quilling supplies, glitter, foil, Disney, Bo Bunny, Echo Park, Tim Holtz and more...oooooddles of good stuff!!! You can shop online and they'll ship it to you for $4.99 if you use the code DEC499. Some of it you can buy online and pick it up at the store. Happy shopping...or happy cleaning, whichever!!! :)
Maybe we should call ourselves The Messy craft room Dwellers!
Where is everybody???? I want them to see the beautiful things you sent me!!!! :)
Betty, I bet they are 'knee-deep' in their craft rooms working hard to meet the card deadline by January 5th!! LOL
First of all, those are lovely cards...! I know I mention this every month but I love those colorful cards. The house inside the first card is so cute! You must have a huge amount of stamps! I also love the second card, the bright colors give me a 'Spring is in the air' kind of feeling. Better than the melted and filthy snow stuff we have here. Lovely set of embellishments, you will have a lot of fun with that Betty!
Betty, don't remind me of all the sales! I have to admit I ordered quite some stuff, but me being in the "Christmas mood" it all has to do with Christmas and Winter.
You Ladies have messy craft rooms? Me??? NEVER!!! Having that said we will not discuss what is considered messy and what not. As long as there is a square foot on my desk I can work it is not messy. I do (try to) tidy up after each project though.
Elfie, I will come over to you with a big Pickup Truck and I will help you clean (out) your room. You will not need any help from the other members, ha ha ha.
First of all, those are lovely cards...! I know I ... (
You are so funny, Anneke!!
That little house Spring scene is from a 'local' business, Papertrey Ink here in SW Ohio -- or PTI as they are also known. It is 'online-only' -- no retail store. The 'set' is called Spring Hills. There is also a Summer Hills, Autumn Hills and Winter Hills. I have all but not Winter. The sets are so versatile.
And yes, I DO have a lot of stamps (and dies, ribbons, paper, and newly added items as well that I'm trying to learn from you, Anneke -- Iris folding, Incire, card embroidery, etc., etc.) No wonder I have a mess!! LOL
Hey! That's not fair, Anneke!! I told Elfie I'd come and clean her craft room FIRST!!!! I will call you when I'm done cleaning it all OUT...THEN you can come and run the vacuum and dust the door frames and clean the windows! :)
Well, maybe the Lord is telling me that I REALLY don't need any more paper/cardmaking supplies........(AND HE IS RIGHT!!! Well, He's ALWAYS right!) I got my JoAnn order all ready to checkout and the page froze. I waited a while and it became active again...until I clicked on checkout...and it froze in the process. I MAY try one more time and then give up if it doesn't work. I really, really, really don't need any more paper, but I was ordering mostly double sided paper, and I really DON'T have much of that!
