Saw post earlier about an exchange where you make a 8x8 square for you and for someone else and at the end of the year you have 24 squares for a blanket. Would love to do it but dont know the first thing about organizing the group would love to join such a group and learn how it works

Sounds like fun. I think there's a swap section on K. P.

I'm with you. Sounds great, but I've no clue about starting it.

Read this and the section I noted above.
Contact some folks who have done it based on the Swaps section...

Organizing and running a swap - those tasks qualify as WORK. If you're an organized person to begin with, it mightn't be too bad.
Not all swappers keep up their end of the deal; I've heard enough tales of woe to keep me out of any swaps.

Thank you!
It's one of the few individual patterns I have every purchased - and before Ravelry or KP came into existence. Not a sewn stitch in it! http://www.ravelry.com/projects/JessicaJean/diamond-patch-sweater

I also would be interested in a swap.

I know it is not the same thing, but if anyone is interested, there is a knit along that is doing squares for an afghan. It is sponsored by Cascade Yarns and Vogue Knitting and I found out about it this weekend at the Vogue Live event in New York. They call the knit along "Knitterati Afghan". There will be thirty squares designed by thirty different designers. The pattern for the first square was just released January 13th. To join, you need to sign up for the Cascade Yarn newsletter: http://www.cascadeyarns.com/KnitteratiAfghan.htm

Jessica-Jean, I also like your sweater. You wear it well.

Thank you, Lilyan! For both the kind compliment and for the information about the KAL. I've signed up. Oy!

Oh I am so happy. I still remember my first knit along, the Marly Bird shawl. I learned a lot from your responses to the various posts. I hope other KPs will sign up as well.

The first square is quite beautiful. I still have to pick up the yarn so I have not started it yet. Also, I do not know much about the yarn they are suggesting, Cascade 220 Superwash, but am looking forward to working with it.

The website gives very little information. 30 squares, but do they ALL go into the afghan? Does the one you have say how big either the afghan or the square are supposed to be?

I will be stash-diving. I'm on a very strict yarn-diet. Until there's room to 'swing a cat' in my wool room, I cannot buy yarn. At the moment, there's hardly room for me to put my feet between the stacks of boxes of yarn!
