I am halfway thru an Aran motif afghan and just noticed in the first repetition of the pattern in one panel I messed up...all the rest of the panels are fine, just those six stitches that don't match the rest. I am not about to frog out over 60 rows to fix it (or literally start over). So, do I pretend I don't know or do I point it out with chagrin. It was probably going to go to one of the GKs or Greats but now I don't know. What would you do????

A mistake makes the afghan individual.

Just say nothing! Most people won't see it unless it is pointed out. It will be beautiful!

If a recipient actually notices and points it out, I'd pretend it was a surprise to me. Odds are nobody will notice.

It's a design element... that's my story and I am sticking to it.....

Oriental rug weavers intentionally have mistakes because no one but God is perfect. So, you have a precedent!

Why "confess"?!? If someone notices, say, "I was not about to go back 60 rows to fix so tiny a glitch. And it makes your afghan a original."

Won't it be just as warm & decorative, even if there are numerous 'errors'? Even knitters usually miss these unless they're specifically pointed out.... You may even have to search for it after completion.

Just say it is a deliberate mistake because only Allah is perfect. Remember that Islamic artists always include one deliberate mistake in their works. The great Mosques always have at least one deliberate mistake in the patterns in the artwork.

They probably wouldn't notice it even if you challenged them to find it :)

I agree with Knit4es - it's a design element, there are no such things as mistakes. 🐢

I wouldn't tell...if I was keeping it for myself, I would rip because every time I looked at it, all I would see is the mistake. However, no one else will even blink an eye and will admire it. Don't ruin it by telling them.

Six stitches out of a whole afghan. Not worth mentioning to anyone but us yarn addicts.
