I can't seem to get the hang of it. I want to use one card for the border, change cards for the body of the blanket, then change back to the border card. I have found many YouTube videos on using one card but can't find one showing how to memorize the second card.
Do I end border card with carriage on left...clear Tuck buttons...bring card reader switch back to circle...leave carriage dial on KC...install new card....memorize by moving carriage to right....press Tuck buttons....move switch back to arrow and continue knitting? I seem to have the steps out of order.
Can someone please set me straight on this or tell me of an available video? My yarn will soon drown in the frog pond.

Are you using punch cards or an ekectronic machine?

Yes, you can do as you have written, or you can do it this way: Before you knit the last row of the border, while the carriage is on the left, change cards. Roll the second card in one row below the start row and as you go to knit the stitches that are already selected, the card will move and the first row will be selected, ready to knit on the return row. Leave the carriage and card reader settings as they are if you are continuing in Tuck.

Would this be the same if you are knitting fairisle without tuck when changing to a second card? Sorry newbie to machine knitting. Had to ask because my first project will use more than one card. Haven't started yet because I am learning all the other stuff i.e. Tension swatch, increase, decrease, holding needles etc but this was something I was thinking about reading through the pattern instructions the other evening.

Yes, try it out first on a sample piece of knitting.

OK. I think I have it now. Thank you so so so much! I have my machine set to knit as soon as I receive an answer. I just knew my fellow MKters would come through for me.
