I saw a woman wearing a wonderful sweater. She said the pattern is called 'Family Tree'. Her mom made it, and she had no idea where the pattern came from. It wasn't anything like 'tree of life'. It looks like a large tree with popcorns as the ends of the branches. It reminded me of Jacobean patterns. I hope someone knows this pattern. Thanks in advance. Ralphie
I'm sorry I am not going to be of much use here, but I remember one time I was looking at Aran patterns and there was something there about family name symbols, like a crest symbol. Hope someone has info for you, would be interested to check it out.
Thanks, I'll check it out.
Apple tree blanket
It is very much like the Paton's sweater, but it has one main tree which takes up the entire front and another one which takes up the entire back. This is so close, that I might go for it, if I don't find the other one.
Thank you so much for your kind reply. Knitters are so giving!
Sounds lovely! I'd love to see what you come up with! Maybe the apple tree blanket tree part would be bigger and could be stuck on a sweater! Enjoy. :)
Thanks for the good wishes. I'll post when I come up with something.
Well, I found a pattern in Family Tree for a cardigan. I'm going to knit it. It calls for Tivoli Snowstorm or Aranmore yarn but doesn't specify what gauge the yarn is. Does anyone know if it is a worsted weight? I'd like the option to choose a different yarn.
hi there are loads of Aranmore wool on ebay

Thanks for the info. I really don't want to use wool. I have a hard time wearing it. That's why I want to know if it is worsted weight.
love that blanket. Maybe my next project.
Well, I finally found the pattern I was looking for. It is Tivoli #1873.
