I thought I would share with you all the baby hoodie I make as a gift for newly expectant parents. This one goes to our first Great Grandchild due in September.

It is my own design but of course there are lots of patterns for baby hoodies. I draft all my patterns my self as I enjoy the math involved and it seems my knitting goes smoother as I am more familiar with my idea of how the garment should look. I love to make the tassel for the hood as I think it looks really neat.

My husband made the little stand for me. I usually photograph the sweaters I make so I remember what they look like later and he loves to do wood working. It is really exciting to me that I figured out how to load these pictures. I am so excited to have a forum where I can share my knitting work. Thank you.

The sweater is adorable. I love the cables and the tassel on the hood. I, too, am waiting on the info on which machine and yarn you used.
Thanks for sharing,

Thank you for your kind comments. I should have included that so I do apologize. Any way I used a mid gauge(6.5mm) Silver Reed machine with the simple carriage (SK 160). I hand latched the rib except for the button band and trim around hood for that I hand knit so it could all be done in one piece.

The yarn used is Bernat Softee Baby and the sweater used all of one skein plus just a little of a second skein. This yarn I purchased at JoAnn Fabric Store but I think it can be purchased in many other places as well. It is a "3" or sport weight yarn and 100% acrylic. Also I have used Lion Brand Baby Soft with similar results. It too is 100% acrylic.

In the past I have also put small lace pattern instead of cables for a baby girl sweater so you can play with what ever you want in the front, since the sweater is small the design doesn't affect the gauge significantly.

I hope this helps, if you have other questions please let me know.

The tassel, the hood, the shaped armscye! All great details. I can't quite tell the design on the buttons, but another extra special detail I am sure. More love knit into this than following a pattern by someone else. Lovely job.
