We are in the beginning stages of building a new house...yeah! If we sell our current house before the new one is done, I will need to store my Singer 360. We won't be homeless, just living in our RV. We usually stay in it for 5 months in winter.

I'm planning on giving the machine a good cleaning and use some Balistol to keep things from sticking. I have a new sponge bar and my old one may be getting close to needing replacing. I'm not planning on changing the sponge bar until I unpack the machine in my new home. Anything else I'm missing?

Collect and clearly mark every manual and accessory and be sure they are not separated from the machine when you store it.

Also remove your sponge bar and store it separately.

I have to disagree about removing the sponge bar. Leaving the KM without a sponge bar will only let the needles slide all all over the place and increase the possibility of getting bent. I leave an older sponge bar IN when sroring.

I agree with Janice K and also swap out the newer bars for an older one & don't forget to lock your carriage so it's secure.

Take the sponge bar out and store it separately from the machine. They last longer. that way.

Thanks for all the advice. I'm hoping to store my things in an insulated storage unit. As I said my current sponge bar is close to kaput so I'll keep it in until I get to the new digs.

We are 99% sure we sold our house. It is contingent on them selling theirs but they are putting up earnest money. Still waiting on approval of new house plans by city. I'm so excited about a new house but equally dreading the packing and unpacking.
