I have 165 yards and I started to knit an scarf with 40 stitches and knit only.
But it doesn't really show the nice yarn.
ANY IDEAS in what stitch I should use to make a nice scarf.
Thanks

a sweater, shawl, blanket, --it is SO beautiful!!! I just don't have any idea how much 165 yards will knit. I'm sure other KP'ers will be able to help you more--good luck.

I assume you meant 165 yards
I would probably choose another slightly heavier yarn (solid of one of the colors) and larger needles.
Then knit a very open stitch pattern so the lovely halo has room to to displayed.
Doesn't have to be a fancy, complicated stitch ... The yarn will be the attraction.
Just my idea.... do post when you are done.

ETA: Please put the picture back... it is a very pretty yarn

Use what you have as the bottom border.
Knit a row on the right side.
K10, P20, K10 on the wrong side
Repeat these two rows.
Every 5 or 10 ridges do 2 rows of knit stitch to keep it from curling.
Repeat the bottom border of all knit rows on the other end.

Very pretty! Do you have a solid in the same weight that you could alternate with? Would make a lovely scarf.

I think I'd do gloves or mittens. I love my beautiful fingerless reading gloves in the winter. They really brighten a dreary day. My expectation is that the yarn will show to best advantage in stockinette stitch so something very simply lovely, nothing fancy or complicated stitch patterns.

i agree with the stockinette stitch!
the only thing is that it tends to curl. you can cast on a few stitches with larger needles, knit one row. then slip 1 or 2 stitches and purl the remainder. slip 1 or 2 stitches and knit the remainder. etc. that would give you a flatter piece. you may end up with a small neck warmer - but it will be a beautiful one!

I think this yarn is so pretty a simple pattern is all you would need to show it off to full potential....something like this shaw?

If you use very large needles I think the strands of the yarn will show up better than if it is in a tight knit. Lovely yarn.
