When you're perusing new patterns, do you ever think "Oh I think I have the perfect yarn for that project"? Me Too! But then you have to go on the hunt for that perfect yarn that you are just sure you have in your stash. This always starts my semi-annual reorganization, this is not something that I do with my DH in the house, he's currently out spraying Poison Oak along our 1/2 mile private farm road so I know it's safe to do this job without him witnessing just how my stash has grown. I've always worried that maybe I'm becoming a hoarder, but my BFF (also a knitter) assures me that because I have a vague mental catalog of what's in the stash and it's still a small enough collection that I can keep much of it contained in storage containers, that indeed it must still be considered stashing and not hoarding. And now you can understand why she is my BFF.

I love it, and if it makes you happy purchasing the yarn - enjoy the day.

I probably have at least the same amount of yarn, plus a larger stash of wool and other fibers waiting to be spun into even more yarn. When I've watched those hoarder shows I know I would be as difficult if someone came in and told me I should pitch my stash. I don't know if that puts me into the hoarder category :)

There is NO SUCH WORD as hoarding in the yarn world, never forget that.

I think hoarders have gotten a bad rap. Every time I go to a Museum, or read a book with old letters I thank heavens for hoarders, without them we wouldn't have any of it.

Hokey smokes, I guess I'm the only one who thinks you have definitely crossed the line into hoarding! I recommend you pack at least half of that up, and send it right to me!!

It's hoarding if you have an emotional tie to every inch of yarn and you can't let it go. If you use the yarn for projects and have a use for them, then your yarn is just part of the supplies for your craft.

Just like the screws, nails, duct tape, hammers, wrenches, etc., that litter every man's tool box.

Wish my house was big enough to have that much without my husband seeing it! Haha! And unfortunately he is very observant and notices when I get out a new yarn for a project!

I have tried to explain just that to my hubby! I am trying to educate him, he is a builder, so uses different materials for different projects. Its just the same for us.
Now how do I sneak in 20 balls of Aran my daughter bought me with her yarn lottery winnings?

My husband would be very upset if I stopped getting yarn, it might mean he'd have to share the remote control :)
Smile, and say things like 'I was going to order some yarn but didn't like to be spending.... what's on TV tonight?' Works a treat, especially if it's Project Runway (or similar) night

It's not hoarding so long as you can find a pathway through the room LOL
