I have been looking for a basic hat for an adult with a deep rib cuff and just plain stitching but everything i find seems to have cables etc. I have tried various sizes by knitting squares, rectangles and gathers and I can't figure out gauges due to dyslexia which makes me feel stupid when something is so basic. I can follow written charts, not pictures, graphs or diagrams. can anyone tell me how many stitches I would need to cast on to make an adult and a teen size. I am using up all my yarn stock on samples that are not working out and it is perplexing because it is so easy.. thanks

it is a form of dyslexia, not word blindness. I cant deal with numbers, lefts and rights, mirror images etc. I make a lot of errors which spell check pulls out. Just takes me a long time, but thanks for your kind reply.

mags - I put in a bulky-bond pattern. Go up to Search at the top of this page. Click on that and it will take you to a page with a rectangle - type in "Nicole/Ellie's Bulky Hat for all sizes." I posted it on Sept. 15 of last year. Good Luck - it is easy and they are nice looking. Let me know how you like it!!

This pattern uses a picot (eon) or ribbing which knitted by hand. There is a mock rib you can look up on the Internet. Ellie
