Hi my fellow KPers. Glad to finally get back online. My computer was hijacked, but all is well now. I do have about 486 e mails to go through, but I will take them a few at a time.

Goodness, that is a lot! Sorry your were hacked, but glad it is all now taken care of (I hope).

I can sympathise. The base of mine separated from the keyboard and I ended up getting a refurbished Toshiba, I had over 500 emails to wade through.

I kind of know how you feel. I just dropped my new four week old mobile down the toilet I had just used and hadn’t flushed yet. Forgot it was in my back pocket. I’m going to end up spending more than a penny. ????

Too much information!!

Glad you're back! I use Avast and knock on wood they do a good job of blocking the evils out there.
k1p1granny that's awful! I see women in the store with their phone in the back pocket and I wonder how they sit - I would forget about it and sit and break the dang thing.

I have always wished that I hadn't been born so soon otherwise I would have become a hacker for sure. Not a bad hacker but what is called a "certified Ethics hacker." My son is has certifications that qualify him as one of those. It enables him to keep his computers safe from hackers. He is very good at what he does and as a result is sent to various military bases to teach them the same security methods. Of course, as my son often says, "Mom, if they want you...they will get you! The thing you have to be aware of is how your computer works, it's normal behavior patterns or quirks etc. And scan your machine periodically and clean it out and NEVER accept HTML's as they are the easiest format for even level 1 hackers to break. I stay on top of my machine and do as he says. You MUST have a virus checker, there is no getting around that. Not all virus checkers protect against the same dangers, each has it's own set of parameters that they follow. The simple truth is that the hackers are miles ahead of us and it is a struggle just to stay "close enough." Think of it this way, a burglar who is looking to break into a car will always choose the one with the open door because it's easy access. No virus checker is the same as that open door.
I do a quick scan once a week and a file clean up. Then I do a FULL scan every 2 or 3 weeks. And I also periodically go into the control panel, program files, and check for suspicous spy ware.

Sounds like retrieval was not fun. Did you pull the battery and use a blow dryer or drop it all in rice to dry?

You hear the one about the thieves were on their way to do a job,
when one of them "butt" dialed 911?
The operator heard them talking about the job, heard them say
where they were going, the cops walked in on them after they
had broke in.
