I just finished this baby afghan for my cousin who is due this summer. (Shhhhhhhh!!!!! It's a surprise!) The pattern was not intended as a baby blanket, but I suspected that with a simple change in color scheme it would work really well for that purpose, and I think I was right. When I started working on this I did not yet know the gender of the baby-to-be (thus the use of many baby colors), but I found out this week that it's a boy, so now I'm off to start some wearable knits.
I also added a row of double crochet on each side due to the large number of ends that I had to weave in (122, 118 of which were all on one side). That helped to hide the extra thickness along the one edge.
I have often looked at that pattern in a site that I was on recently and didn'y think much of it then but now that I see it up close it does look very pretty.
So beautiful! I'm working on a baby blanket for my niece right now. I'm a fairly new knitter, so the going is slow. I hope it turns out at least half as beautiful as yours.
I can't remember who was looking for a Butterfly stitch pattern, but just looked up the web and I found a pattern for a Butterfly stitch pattern for a baby's jumper and i was thinking if you took the amount of stitches for the butterfly stitch and the rest of the pattern you could multiple it by the amount of times it would take to do a blanket and use it for that, I hope you se what i mean the pattern was on Crystal Palace Yarns and was called Bunny Hop Butterfly Jumper.
