There is a book that is out on "Knitting Comfortably" by Carson Demers or Carsen. He is a physical therapist and is teaching his classes of therapy in relation to knitting and crochet. See if you can get it in the library and also California has one of his classes coming up with Vogue Knitting Live and something like that. I always wear my hand knit socks in winter - they really keep my feet extra warm - would not be without them.
Kids are knitting socks by age 5 in other countries.
