Recently I was browsing baby blanket patterns on Ravelry. I liked this one: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/knitted-chevron-blanket
However, the instructions are minimal, just a chart. I did try the pattern today with some scrap yarn but I kept ending up with extra stitches. After reading a bit about how to read knitting charts, it seems to me that there is an error in the way it is written (the k2tog are shown on the chart covering 2 squares).
Since I have never used a knitting chart before, could someone write out the pattern for me? Has anyone made this pattern? Do you just keep repeating these 3 rows?
I believe there is an error in this pattern as the designer says it is a 34 stitch repeat but that would mean counting the k2tog as 2 as well as the yarn overs as 1 each. Row 3 currently reads as this:
row 3: slip 1, knit 2, * k2tog,k5, yarn over, k1, yarn over, k5,k2tog twice, k4, yarn over, k1, yarn over, k6, k2tog, repeat from * to last 3 stitches, k3.
I read this as a 32 stitch repeat so you could probably change the two k5s to k6.
And then repeat the 3 rows until desired length.
I see on ravelry that this question was asked but not answered a long time ago.
Maybe check for other chevron patterns?
Thank you for your quick response. I'm wondering if it should be:
S1, K2, *K2tog, k6, yo, K1, yo, K6, K2tog, k2tog, k6, yo, K1, yo, k6, k2tog* K3
This seems to give the correct number of stitches (34) for the repeat section. I will probably try this tomorrow to see how it looks. I did look at other Chevron patterns but couldn't find anything to help.
Thanks so much. I appreciate all the responses.
