I am looking for a pattern to use scrap yarn to make a child's afghan. Does anyone have a pattern for the Unholy Granny Square that is one big square not tons of little squares. One just keeps adding to the original square? I googled and only received 12" square patterns.

Thank you so much

If you would like to search again, try using rectangular granny square. There are several.

If you are just making 1 big square all you need to do is keep going with the pattern of your choice. You don't need to stop at 12"

You can make it as big as you want, not limited to 12 inches.

Use the granny square pattern you have and just keep going around it--adding more rounds until it's as large as you wish. You will do the corners the same and just have more 'groups of stitches' on the sides.
It really is easy and I have done many, many; don't like to put the little squares together.

Just pick your favorite granny square and keep going - until it is the size you want. I have made quiet a few of these.

When I did a granny square afghan, I did not want to end up with a square blanket. I did 2 granny squares about 4 inches and put them together and then did my rounds around that. So it was twice as long as it was wide.
