I was wondering if any one can explain this stitch? I can't find it on you tube. It is called tranquility stitch in the pattern..
Row 1 P2,*yo,sl1,k1, then pass the yo and the slipped st tog over the knit st;rep from * to last 2 sts,p2
Row 2 P2,*insert the RH needle from right to left behind the strand lying diagonally across the base of the first st on the LH needle. Pick up this strand, place it on LH needle and purl it.Purl the first st; rep from* to last 2 sts,p2
I get the first row but can't figure out what the 2nd row is trying to achieve. Is there another name for this stitch so I can find a tutorial?

How many stitches are you working on?
If I know how many stitches in each repeat of the pattern I can test a sample for you.
Also, what are you making?
Have fun.
Colleen.
PS.
I didn't wait for your reply but worked out the pattern.
On Row2, you are simply working the YO, from the previous row, as a Purl Stitch.
You don't really need to go through the trouble of putting the stitch onto the left hand needle, you can simply Purl it where it is.
Row1 reduces the row by half, excluding the P2 at each end, and Row2 takes it back to the correct number of stitches.
Hope this makes sense.

PPS.
Found the pattern you may be using and notice the picture shows mostly the inside of the stitch rather than the outside.
It is very pretty and I have worked out a slightly easier way to do it, which looks exactly the same.
Instead of SL1, K1, PSS and YO over the K1, I simply worked K2TOG TBL then Pass YO over.
When you do Row2, pick up the YO from the back of the work and purl it.
Saves putting the stitch onto the left needle.

I have also tried lots of variations of this stitch for some interesting results.

The link you give seems to be for Trinity Stitch and the method doesn't seem to be anything like the Tranquillity Stitch - help am I missing something?

I'm on my 6th cowl with this stitch, i love it! Do the first row as written, then i knit the second row, i do not put the bar onto the needle, i just purl it from the back, you may find it awkward at first, but it gets easier as you proceed. If you lnit 2tog as mentioned it will not look the same.

I cast on 30st.. On a size 11needle.i start my scarves with a sl st, p 1 then pattern, whatever you choose, end w p1' sl 1with woo in front. I find that i have nice straight edges with a sort of cable effect. Worth trying. Hope this helps.

You are right, it certainly is not Trinity Stitch.
The problem is, often names are given to stitches which don't seem to have any relevence to the stitch which makes for confusion when we try them.
I certainly did not find it a tranquil stitch to do, especially when reading the instructions for the first time.
It is a pretty stitch and simple to do once you master it so hope you have.
I worked out several versions in the process of working out how to make it look like the picture.
Mind you, most of the picture, with the pattern, shows the inside of the fabric which makes it harder to figure out.
Hope you are having fun making the cowl.

Tranquility Stitch is in the Third Walker Treasury. It is not the same as the Trinity Stitch. Here is a video for you, I believe this is how it is done.
