When they say to use a 32" circular needle does that length include the needle ends or just the cable? I always use circular needles but to knit flat so I never pay any attention to the length.

that would be from tip to tip!

32" tip to tip, but if you don't have that length a 40" works just fine too. Actually any length longer than 32" will work.

Tip to tip is the normal measurement. 32" is the minimum recommended for Magic Loop. I have done 2 toe up socks at the same time on one needle of that length...and it was a bit tight. I find that I prefer 40"...tip to tip.

For me, 40" in a must. I knit all my socks using Magic Loop, as well as hats, sleeves, etc. I hope you enjoy it as much as I!

Thanks everyone for your replies. Kind of thought that was the case but wanted your expert answers. I think I will go with the 40" as suggested. Now on to new experiences. More slouch hats!!!!
