I have done this several times. It is not difficult to do. Just pick a spot and dig in. I have taken scissors and just cut off the end of the sock or item; then went to pick up the stitches. Someimes I pick up the stitches with a small needle (circular), and unravel down to a complete row. I don't worry about picking up only one row as it is too much strain in my eyes. If I frog from the end of the item, it will go in a straightforward manner. If working from the direction of the knitting, it is a bit more cumbersome but I get there. Last month did that with 2 prs of socks that I did not like.
Thank you BunnyZ and tamarque. I've frogged and rewound. Yea
I know, it always seems so scarey and frustrating to have to pull things apart. But now that it is done, you are free to move forward in the way that you want.
