Has anyone seen a knit pattern for a "Mermaid Blanket, that the child actually can slip into up to their waist and the bottom is fashioned like a mermaid tail. So it is like a cocoon for babies but for bigger children. I have seen several in crochet, but I do not know how! I just knit!

The pattern can be switched to knit. You just have to make the stitches match up. I.E. Single crochet is one knit stitch high, half and double crochet is two knit stitches high. To increase: one row increase, next row (normal ~ p or knit) next row increase. Only for stitches that are half or higher. Decrease: do the reverse. Only for stitches half or higher. For single crochet stitches: one knit stitch. Do a swatch to what the directions say are the {4"x4"} square. And go from there. Hope this helps.

I have TWO mermaid tail afghan patterns. Both are crochet - one free and one $7.

Solution to your dilemma: Get busy learning how to hook! Don't forget - If you can knit, you can do ANYTHING!

Good luck!
