I just finished a 17 store yarn crawl here on the front range in Colorado and had a wonderful time. Took DH along for company and as my Chief Enabler. Yes, he actually does encourage me to get more yarn saying things like "Wouldn't this make a nice sweater?". And yes, I did buy a few skeins, patterns, and accessories. Wondering now if any of you have participated in local yarn crawls.

Try asking in some of your local yarn shops, not the chain stores who carry yarn. You might also try an on-line search for yarn crawls. I met several folks who'd traveled here from Wyoming to participate. One store owner said she had a customer from Alaska. Wow! That's a long schlep.

PS, I just googled Yarn Crawls New Jersey and found quite a good list - they also had one in April called a Wool Walk. Good luck.

I did in the spring. So much fun and my husband also drove me to all 12 shops. He encouraged me to buy more yarn.

You don't have to wait for an organized one. I have gone on a few that were just some gals and LYS in our area. We make a day of it, stopping for lunch along the way. We will head north one time and then pick a different direction for the next one. And if a group arrives at a shop all at once, the owner will sometimes give everyone a small discount on their purchases.

Great idea. I did one on my own solo a few years back because I missed the dates. Still had fun.

The Pacific Northwest one from the top of Puget Sound to the area around Renton has been a major feature of my May for the last 5 years. I've bought way too many of the featured projects! It's been a great time to ride around with friends, and the year that I did a chunk of it on my own, after the official date because of a conflict, was also a lot of fun. I've learned my new home area largely based around where the LYS are.

They're a wonderful way to see a new set of yarn store (as if that was needed). I've seen them in Northern Virginia, swag bags included.

Yarn crawls have been held here in Northern Virginia, but I haven't had the opportunity to participate. Now that I'm retired, I hope to enjoy the next yarn crawl experience!

sound like you had a wonderful time, and how great you took DH along.
Wondering how many would do the same.

There is one in the Hudson Valley, NY that is called "The Hudson Valley Yarn Cruise." There are about 25 shops listed. You visit as many as you can and are placed in the running in a drawing later at the culmination which is a cruise up and down the Hudson River.
It's almost done as the cruise itself is soon in Sept.
I did it last year and had a blast! Spent too much, but enjoyed visiting all the shops I could.

I'm glad you had such a great time. I've never heard of one where I live.
