Sorry for my ignorance but I didn't know what Boxing Day was, thanks for the information. I don't think we celebrate it in the south.

Sauerbraten the tradition here now. Gets the family to come. Been marinating since Tuesday. My husband usually does the daily cooking, but I don't let him near sauerbraten. Family recipe my Mom taught me to make.

I can't imagine throwing cards out that quickly. They are pretty and remind me of the friends that cared enough to send them.

Our duck is in the oven and the cranberry sauce is in the refrigerator. All the rest is ready to go whenever the duck is done.

Because Christmas fell on Sunday this year the 26th is holiday here also. No mail and many state and federal workers have the day off. Banks are closed, also. I am sure that are big sales starting, as usual.

Today I got visits from all my children, not to see me or DH, no the leftovers are a far bigger draw.

I like the concept of Boxing Day! We had family over Christmas Eve. My granddaughter has moved into her first apartment so I had several things out if she needed (or) wanted any. After she picked what she wanted, her mom, my DIL took the rest. Better than Charity shop, still goes where needed and I didn't have to pack it up and deliver it.

Living alone, now I don't put out much for Christmas. I now spend two days at my daughter's and enjoy her big tree. Today I put everything away and am getting my house back to normal. I wished my sisters a happy Boxing Day. One knew what it is and one didn't.
