My son has always said the same thing. Why keep having children if they are going to have a life of starvation. Why do the parents send their youngest child to collect the dirty water each day. Why don't the adults do it. Why why why...

50 % is a story if the charities got 50 hungry people they show they got 200 and collect money and that goes in there pockets . If they don't have money to feed others why they want to make more more charities as they take there wages out of the money so all administration costs etc .

In Birmingham they got charity and they got there to channel when they collect money they collect money 365 days and the videos they show are 10 years old how the deceiving the world.

25% are right 75% are drama . They had fined many times from off com but still they got ways greed wins and they found different ways to steel money again .

Better when help the charities first investigate are they real and try to help around you no one will hungry then .

They probably have so many children because they don't have access (or the money) for reliable birth control. I've read where only about half of the children survive to adulthood. It's a very sad situation.

I have stopped sending money to charities. Instead I send money to 2 families in Sri Lanka a couple of times a year. We have known the "lads" since the 1990s when we first visited the island. I know that they receive the whole amount and this money helps to keep their extended family for a while.

Corrupt government could be one issue. Uneducated women and children another issue. Unsafe and unclean water systems because the government does not collect taxes to pay for such things. Infrastructure is so lax in thousands of places worldwide, as these things cost money. Even with free manpower (slavery vs volunteerism, one being evil and counter-productive, the other being beneficial to society and benevolent), materials cost money. Where will that come from? What confuses me is the terrorist issues. After your country has been destroyed and basically wiped-out (no more religious temples or churches, schools, gas stations, malls, municipal bldgs, houses standing) what have you got left? Better to use that energy for rebuilding your infrastructures, being better educated to benefit society, and stop the warring. It is counter-productive.

The phrase "God helps those who help themselves" is a popular motto that emphasizes the importance of self-initiative and agency, underscoring one's duties to work both for themselves and their families (without government intervention or assistance).

It has been shown time and time again that education for girls is the best way to ensure that they have some say in their own reproductive lives. I believe Mrs Obama has been very active in this area.

What gets me is .. since I was a little girl collecting for Unicef at Hallowe'en in those little Unicef boxes, we've been 'saving the children.' What happened to all those children, the ones from way back when? Have we ever seen evidence of them growing up and taking care of themselves and their families? I haven't. Shouldn't someone be educating the parents, not just 'saving the children' so they can carry on their vicious circle?

Want to check out a worthy charity? Check Orphan Grain Train. BBB has it listed as a top charity. Red Cross, Salvation Army & other charities call on them. Have visited them personally numerous times. Only 12 paid staff - too guy only received $120,000 a year. They sponsor orphanages in Russia, Kyrgyzstan, etc., plus here in USA. 97 cents of every $1 goes for the charity. Plus $15 feeds 500 people. They just reached their 1,000,000th meal. Please check them out.

Why do they have so many children? It's in the expectation that a large number of them will die. Sad.

I sponsored a child for many years through Save the Children (actually several over the years as they would age out). We would correspond and get reports of what was being done with the money. Now only support local charities that provide meals and other assistance year-round (St. Vincent de Paul Society, etc.) to people in the community who need it.

If you want to know about a charity, www.charitywatch.org lets you know how much is spent on the charity and how much is for "administrative" costs. Some "charities" give as little as 10% to the stated goal. I prefer to give to local charities and places like our local food pantry.
