This celtic knot looped scarf was a very fast knit which I made in red for my boss (her business name has Red in the title, so she wears red constantly.) This link shows the modifications I made to the original pattern.

I agree a little chore is so helpful, a surprise favorite food or homemade soup. a shoulder cape with just one button in neck area, small scented lotion, I made my mom and her friends small pocketbook make 2 granny squares about sew together on 3 sides, make strap. This holds a little money, key, and tissues more important does not weigh anything. Before sewing together I sew in a liner-any kind material all easy and thoughtful.

It will still be cold then, so here's an idea for a scarf:

I made one of these for my daughter on Valentine's Day: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/valentine-hearts-scarf

Here's a double knit scarf: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/double-knitted-double-heart-scarf

Those are all knitted, but there are a lot of others on Ravelry, and some are crochet.

Double knit is pretty.

Ok..I'll try again. Posted to Miss Marple instead of this...??
Anyway, I would get her a very, very, very squishy teddy bear...big and fat and cuddly...a 24 hr. friend.

I made my Mom this pattern when she told me her neck and shoulders would get cold when she was sitting and playing cards. She did pick out the yarn so it was blues and teals rather than pinks and reds. Done in Valentine colors with a beautiful button, it would be a great holiday gift. Several friends have made this same pattern and found it both easy and quick.

There was a cowl/shawl/hood posted yesterday that would be great. It looks like feather and fan. Very pretty.

Thank you for bringing this up. I usually wait too long to get started and then make myself crazy :)
I like this pattern because it has multiple uses but won't hang down and get in the way.

My Mom's 91st birthday is in February and I'm making her a cape to use while she reads in bed. Probably a shortened version of the Utilitarian Faroese Shawl http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/utilitarian-faroese-shawl

I like to crochet carnations. I have a very simple pattern. I usually do 1 in pink, 1 white and 1 in red. If anyone is interested in will post it.

A scarf with pockets on each end would be nice. Have seen several on line.

Wheelchari wrap.
My wife has 3 of them and wears them when watching tv.
I just add extra rows and make them longer than the pattern call for.
The holes in the sides are made as you do each row.
The holes in the bottom are then created when you want to finish it.
You can do it in double crochet or half double crochet.
