Hi , all. I am a newbie in this area of KP, but am going back into spinning again. I can't afford the room in my home for a spinning wheel, so I am using a so I drop spindle. I also prefer to use rolags, as that is what I learned to use spinning. I know, double the work, but I buy rovings, and then make my rolags from the rovings. Here is a picture of the pan full of rolags I made today ( so very soothing making rolags ), and the spinning I did from the rolags.

Welcome back to spinning! Nothing like having a bin of rolags ready to spin. Well done.

Looks great to me! Are rolls when you pre-draft the roving? That's what I have been doing when I work with my drop spindle--makes the process easier and more successful for me, maybe because it takes away the pressure of hurry and I get my drafted stuff more even.

Rolags are made from different wool and or colors on a blending board or a carder. They kinda come off in a roll Go to youtube and search how to use a blending board you will see how it is done.

Good spinning for being out of practice. If you prefer to use rolags, then whatever makes YOU happy - that's what spinning (or any other hobby) is all about. Are you going to dye the spun yarn?

Your rolags look so soft and squishy. Very nice spinning on your drop spindle. I never was able to master that. Tried drop and support. I may try again someday, easier to carry a drop spindle on trips than it is a wheel. :)
