I just knit 4 kids sweaters for my 4 grandchildren for Christmas. Because I send them away, I do not have a chance to see how they wear. My one grandson took a particular liking to his sweater and wore it every day for a week. My daughter said that while it wore well, it had a lot of pilling. Is there a better brand of acrylic that does not pill or is using a blend the answer to my problem? Thank you.

I’m sorry I don’t have an answer, but the bright side is he wore it every day!

Well, it pilled - but he loved it still, so... does it matter?

He is 5. He likes everything that comes in the mail from Grandma!

Deramores have an acrylic that does not 'pill', I love it and it is not expensive and great to work with!

No, I don't have any connection to them, just love this yarn.

Do you have the name of the yarn. I would love to find a yarn that does not pill. It is very hard to find one that doesn't. Thank you for your help & recommendation.

I usually buy an acrylic/nylon blend as it doesn't pill...

Hello and welcome.

At least he likes your knitting! That is always a bonus.

Happy for you he loved it and wore it everyday. Even natural fibers pill. The nature of the beast. I recently purchased a comb to remove the pills from my sweaters.

I use a little electric razor to get pilling off stuff. It may be down to how it's washed, though? Maybe if your daughter tried handwashing the sweaters inside out, it could at least minimalise pilling.

If it's de-pilled then washed it will lessen the pilling. Another time, washing before wearing helps to stop this. These were tips from when I worked in the trade. 🐹

This article gives some hints. I put on a new sweater I just knit, and it pilled the first day. The only thing worse is all the moth holes I get in new sweaters.
