I am looking for a mitered square pattern that starts at the other end so I can knit until I run out of yarn. Did I say this right? I want the pattern to start tiny and get bigger. The pattern I found starts with a large cast on and gets smaller.

No, the opposite (few stitches work up to many with increases). So she can stop at any time.

I say start with probably 3, then *do one plain row, one row with double increase in center.*

It needs testing, or if there’s an actual pattern, all the better.

Thank you for this. Perfect! After posting my request I decided I could probably figure this out. I have started one that's a little different than these but it seems to be working.

Great! Fun project, watching it grow bigger and bigger.

Somehow, to make the increase point a bit more square, I’d cast on 3, and Kfb, pm,k1, kfb; knit next row even; next row, k to center 3, kfb, sm, k1, kfb, knit to the end. Repeat rows 2 and 3 as needed.

I was looking at Drops patterns that had mitered squares, the other day. It appears the Norwegians do their mitered squares your way

I don't recall a specific pattern, sorry, but as Drops patterns are free, you can browse the patterns and look at the mitered square instructions to see if it would work for you.
