I've been practicing with garter bars and discovered a noise that may be the gate peg mis-alignment between left 75 & 76. It s not a scraping but more like a muted bumping as the carriage passes over.. That gate peg looks like it is lower, and a bit forward as well as to the left. Had to use flash to let it show.

Last time I'd used bed in that area was over a month ago 80 left to 80 right (without garter bar) and no noise.

Any fix suggestions?
Marge

My guess is that the #76 needle is bumping into the bent gate peg....Use a pair of pliars to straighten the gate peg...

The middle two look out of true, the left one pushed in a little, the other out a little. Clever use of the flash to pinpoint the tips! Be gentle when you ease them back into place, snapping them would create a bigger problem.

Thank you so much, Tallie9 and knitterli. I'll have my son, Wade take a look at it and see if he can straighten them out. He's a machinist and knows metals very well. Hopefully he can get to it sometime this weekend.
Thank you again.

My DH used needle nose pliers to straighten a bent peg enough so GCs needle isn't hitting it. Not straightening it all at once so as not to possibly break it off.

Thanks KateWood. I'll pass that on to him too.

Looks like 75 and 76.
Put a soft cloth around the gate pegs before using the pliers.

Alas, Wade was not able to get his usual time off this past weekend. The QC crew was short manned and he had to fill in. BUT, I've printed out all your recommendations to fix. Thank you all, again.

I have an old key with hollow tube. Placed over gatepeg can gently be pushed into line.
