I have just come through security screening at Nadi Fiji airport and had two pairs of circular knitting needles, eyebrow tweezers and and mending kit confiscated. The mending kit was one of those hotel giveaway packs with just needles and thread. I don’t see what harm that could cause.
I know there have been a few questions lately about whether you can take knitting needles on aircraft. Fiji is on the list of not being able to. 😤😫
My sad knitting

So is it all knitting needles or would bamboo needles have been able to slide through?
I feel bad for your untethered loops. Hope you are good at picking up!

So sorry that happened. It's a beautiful project that had to be taken apart. Hope there's a way to salvage it!! 🙂

Mine were metal Addis. Plastic may have got through but I’m not sure. I come up to Fiji a couple of times a year and until now have never had a problem. Next time I’ll try plastic.
Picking up the stitches when I get home won’t be a problem but it’s going to seem like a long flight without my knitting fix 🤓

Oh, yeah, dangerous eyebrow tweezers MUST be taken away from dangerous grandmothers! So, what did they think you would do with them---tweeze someone's facial hair until they die?

And those tiny needles in the sewing kit? Totally scary! I'm sure the other passengers were very relieved that you couldn't bring tiny sewing needles on board!

Not getting on the flight for another half an hour. I’m just sitting here twiddling my thumbs and moaning to all my friends on KP at the moment. 🤓

Wish it was. Our daughter informed us last night that she wants us to all come to Fiji for her 40th birthday in five weeks time. 😫

I had a plastic pair taken in Turkey but that’s it. Not bad considering all the travel we do.

Yuck! Too bad you didn't have time to slip the stitches onto waste yarn.

So sorry to hear about your needles and lost time.

k1p1granny- is your DD paying for all of you to travel? I always wonder about family 'vacations' and destination weddings. All during our almost 40 years marriage my MIL has planned trips with us included but with no say-so on location or expense. They have really stretched us financially because my DH is self-employed with no paid days off. Last year was the first time he said no and truthfully I was very relieved.
