I notice that Kate wore a red dress with a white lace collar. I remember in the 50's wearing crochet collars. Are they in fashion again?

If not they will be now. I have a couple of patterns from way back. Maybe I should get busy.

I still have a bunch I made years ago-more like the 70’s though-stashed in a drawer. Love them on a solid knit dress, but I seldom wear dresses these days.

I am not one to follow the latest "in" thing, but this did strike me as being very pretty.

No matter what Kate wears....she is one classy and lovely woman. Our First Lady always looks classy, too.

I think I read that she wore this to honor Princess Diana, who, wore something similar when she left the hospital; after having given birth to Harry. (If I remember correctly, Diana’s dress was pinkish or salmon in color.

The news said that Cate wore a red dress with a Peter Pan color as an homage to the same color and style dress that Diana wore as she left the hospital following the birth of Harry. Whatever Cate wears, she always looks stunning. As for the crocheted collar, I love it. Years ago, I made several such collars and wore them with pride.

As it was St. George's Day I did wonder if that was the reason that she wore the colours red and white. Many places fly the flag on the 23rd April.

I just looked it up. Diana wore a red coat over a striped blouse that had a Peter pan collar. Unfortunately, I could not download the photo.

Here's a photo of both women when they left the hospital.

I always think that the First Lady looks stern and has mean looking eyes. Maybe its her make up. She never looks too thrilled about anything.

I am sure I have a few patterns for those collars. I used to wear collars when they were in style years ago (I am 75). If the collars are coming back in style, I will have to look for my patterns and get a few made. I gave my old ones away.

I have a pattern book of those collars too. Not to be nit-picky; Kate isn't a princess, she is the Duchess of Cambridge.

She has a great deal on her mind--being the First Lady during any president's turn must be a difficult job--always on the go and has to look her very best for the public. She is a serious woman--and is admirable with her presence anywhere. Sometimes no matter what is posted--seems there is someone who just needs to have a negative attitude.....I feel sad for those who only have to ruin what was meant to be a nice post.
