I've been wanting to try out the Provisional Cast-on for some time. This hat seemed like the perfect pattern. It included stranded colorwork which I love. Even after realizing that I was making a huge hat, I continued on. It will be a perfect hat for a snowman!!! Haha.
Oh my! Well, will keep the wind off your face!
If you fold the brim up I think it might solve your problem. Lovely hat.
Oh dear. Been there! Beautiful work.
I agree, fold up the hem. That will help some. It just won't be as tight. I don't think all of that was your gauge.
Make holes for your eyes.
Beautiful pattern. If you wear it, you would be incognito.
Is it made from wool? Maybe a light felting would solve the size issue.
Thank you everyone for all the kind words and tips. Instead of 20 stitches = 4 inches, I had 16 stitches = 4 inches. This changed the total circumference of the hat by almost 5 inches!!!!!! Yowza.
This was a good learning experience for me - I don't like the Provisional Cast-on. And, my Hubby had a good laugh photographing me.
Put a plastic cup on your head, that’ll raise it off your nose. All in good fun
I often donate my "size wrong mistooks" to the local homeless shelter or the Homeless Program at the VA hospital where I work..
There's always a need out there....
