In the 50's yesterday. Today it's 25 with a windchill of 9. Lake Erie is rocking & rolling with strong winds out of the northwest. More snow is on its way. I just stood in the wind on the bluff this afternoon. I feel like it cleans the cobwebs out of my brain.

Beautiful pictures. I get get pics of the water and ice when I fly over Canada. It is getting colder here in So. Indiana. Snow is forecast and we are way behind in our snowfall for the year. Just preparing in case. Stay warm.

My best friend lived in Lorain back in the early 70's. We would watch the lake & actually witnessed some of the big lake ore boats being built at the shipyards there. Like every place, things have changed.

The coldest I've ever been was standing on Lake Erie. It had already been a brutally cold winter, and that day it was ten degrees. The lake had been frozen for a couple of weeks, and it was so solid that Sherman tanks wouldn't have affected it. Dale and I and our kids were returning from Michigan and decided to stop at a park on the lake. I took photos of my family on the ice. We were dressed for the cold, but standing on solid deep ice with a stiff wind blowing, it definitely wasn't enough. I didn't feel warm again for a couple of hours even in the warm car.
I'm glad we did it though.

The coldest I've ever been was standing on Lake Er... (show quote)

My Aunt grew up on Kelly's Island. When I was a kid & winters seemed more consistently colder, Sandusky Bay & the lake would freeze solid. Intead of flying over to see her relatives, they would drive. A truck. Lots of ice fishing then, too. I love the lake.

It's nice in summer, I'll grant you that! And I loved Kelly's Island and Cedar Point with the kids!

I've got all my supplies ready. We're supposed to get snow this weekend in NC. I have a headlamp, a bag of light sticks, and a full bottle of lamp oil. Oh, and food, too. And a partially-kntted lamp rug that I didn't have 2 weeks ago.
Y'all stay warm.
