This is the same stitch pattern in a blanket.

You will see that there is a knit row in between the alternating blocks.

Oh except my pattern according to the author and now that I have knitted part of my swatch is a combination of garter stitch, stockinette stitch, reverse stockinette stitch, and garter stitch. The photo of the pattern in the blanket ( I think) shows only stockinette and reverse stockinette.

The author was describing both sides. Look on the reverse side and it will be reverse stockinette and garter.

Oh but my pattern (I will post the photo maybe hard to see) but on the right side of the sweater it is showing a square of garter next to a square of stockinette and over the garter square is a square of reverse stockinette and next to that is another square of garter. Also this is shown in another area of the pattern which I will try and post that picture as well here.

Having seen the picture, I agree. Just do what the chart has.

Bless you for taking the time to reply as I didn't want to proceed with the pattern until I was absolutely sure! Thank you so much again! Just to let you know I ended up going to work this morning but transit was so backed up because of snow that I called my boss and told her I would not be in. I wanted to make my day off very productive by figuring out this pattern. Yay, I did it. I lost a day's pay but oh well...at least I enjoyed my day off at home. I live in British Columbia Canada and they just don't know how to cope if it snows here. Originally I am from Montreal, Quebec where they clear the snow and transit is prepared for snow at any time.

You didn't mention which Sally Melville's book, but you should check here for errata, if you haven't.

She used that stitch pattern in several items on Ravelry.

Thank you I could not find this website with errors on her books. But now I'm going kookoo because she says to remove the chart at the bottom of the page which was this one. And I don't know why she is saying to remove this chart.

I am guessing that row 12 is included by mistake in the RS instructions and should be in the WS instructions.

I believe you are correct

Thank you, you are right and I am an absolute dummy because I did not read an essential part - after the pattern instructions Sally Melville the author has a part called "Reading the stitch pattern of this chapter ". Anyways, she writes" Wrong-side rows , here 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20. So Row 12 as RS is a typo on the previous page.
Thanks to all who responded to this topic.
