I do that if I ever knit anything for myself......vertical stripes to deceive about the expanded girth, A-line to hide the stomach, the cap to hide my hair loss! But seriously...very interesting article...I love trompe-l'œil, especially in architectural designs. I love these. When I painted more, I did do some trompe-l'oeils painting but I think it would be fun to create a design to knit.
