If you have 35 minutes to spare, I just watched the story of The Great Zamperini. A high school runner who went to the Berlin Olympics in 1936. This isn't a story of Olympic glory though...it's about a young man who survived WWII against all odds. Adrift at sea after the plane he was in crashed into the ocean and then taken prisoner, his tale of survival is amazing. Though he did much more than survive after his ordeal was over, after a few missteps, he thrived! At age 81 he carried the Olympic torch through the city where he was held as a POW. An amazing man, who overcame so very much. Can't urge you enough to watch this.

You're welcome. Sometimes we think we just can't bear anymore but this man proves just how much a person can endure and overcome. Very inspirational.

For anyone who wants to read his story, one is Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand. It's well written and a compelling read.

I enjoyed this 35 minute video far more than the movie Unbroken because I was able to see and hear the actual man who lived this, rather than an actor and scripted words. Though I've always found it more interesting to hear a person tell their story.
