Label them before and after. The story is great. At least he didn't turn his underwear bright pink because he tossed a red Tshirt in with the whites and did the laundry. I made him wear his underwear.

My DH did the same thing when doing the wash while I was working full-time (breadwinner at the time) but rang me at work,
asking "What did you put in the wash to turn the whites all bright pink?".

I hadn't put anything in to do that, so reversed the question. "What did YOU put in to turn them pink?"
We traced it back to a brand new top he had bought in a deep Maroon colour. A test run soon proved it.

I didn't mind having pink underwear, but he sure did, and his had to be bleached for a while to get to a wearable stage.
How come these dyes are not colourfast until they leech into the secondary object, whereupon they refuse to budge?
Anybody know?
Cheers
Moisey.PS: If you have enough wool you could knit two more socks, one to match the normal size & one to be felted for the small one.

There is a Lima Bean recipe that we learned 30+ years ago to re-block 'felted' knitwear. Can't guarantee it will work but it's certainly worth a try. Just Google the name.

All Google finds is recipes for cooking lima beans, nothing about re-blocking woollens.
