Well, I may not be doing much Knitting in the very near future. It seems I have cataracts in both of my eyes. The first one (left) will be the first week in May. Two weeks later the other may be done. Depends on the diabetic retinopathy that I have in my right eye they need to reduce that swelling first.

Had just finished up some pattern measurements for my GrGrsnd daughter (she’3) and I get hit with this.

At least I can still read posts in gigantic type on the computer, and can post since my iPhone has the microphone thingy. The specialist said I was to avoid yarns (fibers) for 1-2 months.

Well, through feeling sorry for myself ...😊

Over the past 12 months my husband has had both eyes done and he couldn't be happier. He had detached retinas in both eyes over a few years and this had brought on the cataracts. People keep asking why he looks different....It's because they have never seen him without glasses before.
I hope all goes as well for you.

Praying all goes well for you. That is sad no yarn for a couple of months. Will you be able to read?

Thank you. Oh, yes I’ll be able to read. I have a Kindle Fire Hd8 tablet and can enlarge the type a lot. 😊😊

All the best. Why no yarn fibers? What does yarn fiber do to your eyes?

I hope you heal quickly.

I dare say no fiber because of the "floating" effect of yarn. We don't see it, (no pun intended), but it would get in our eyes.

My first surgery is May 7, the next one three or so weeks later. Nobody has said anything about no knitting, at least so far but I guess nobody knows I knit and crochet. I'll have to ask about this.
Good luck with your surgery. A few of my friends have had this done lately and all are really happy with the outcome so I'm looking forward to mine.

The cataract operations ought to be quite straight forward, but I wish you very well for the diabetic retinopathy. If you can get your blood sugar under stricter control - easier said than done - it may improve your chances of stabilising the retinopathy for some time. I may be useful to be stricter and perhaps to measure your blood sugar regularly to work out what makes you have a steady blood sugar and what raises it too much. Regular 3-6monthly HbA1C would be very useful too.
Wishing you all the best.

Oh so sorry. Had my cataracts done a few years ago, couldn't be happier with the results. Am on a strict Blood sugar regime so, so far so good. At least you can still read, probably knit & crochet, so think positive. Success with your surgery & every good wish for the future
