Cherished Gowns UK

Can you knit or crochet? We need volunteers to help us make 5,000 micro hats to go in to our hospital boxes. These hats are incredibly tiny and are only approx 1.5" high. They must be made from white or cream wool only. Please share with anyone you think can help.

Does this mean pure wool ?

In England most yarn is called "wool". I presume acrylic would be fine.

Yes we do tend to call all yarn wool but anyone kind enough to participate might like to get clarification. Lol the exact same question popped in to my head when I first read it. If no one else does before I get home from holiday I will contact them

I would think acrylic would be better especially for washing and allergys.

Having gone to the web site it seems pretty obvious they won’t be getting washed .

I have just visited the website and registered as a knitter. I have so many small amounts of wool and those tiny hats will be done in minutes. Thanks for posting this link.

From their website:

“Cherished Gowns UK is a registered charity (1172482), that provide the families of babies that are stillborn, miscarried or pass away shortly after birth with items of clothing that they are able to be dressed in for their funeral. We provide UK hospitals with 5 different sizes of Cherished Gown packs that include a gown, hat, booties, blanket and a cloth nappy. We also send gown packs directly to parents who are unable to find anything to fit their precious baby on request. Our service is provided completely free of charge to anyone that is in the sad position of needing it.”

This is a wonderful organization started to help those going through what is likely one of life’s most difficult challenges.
