After the last week with non-stop posts about Ravelry and their new policy I vowed not to participate in anymore conversations...... until I just went to Ravelry just now and saw their latest post.

Funny that it doesn't address any negativity regarding the other posts and only the positive feedback; but moving on; what I take exception to is the part that asks people to support their designers PARTICULARLY THE BLACK, INDIGENOUS, PEOPLE OF COLOUR AND LBGTQ designers. What is that about? Do designer profiles specifically indicate a designers heritage or sexual preference? Why should it matter? If I am looking for a pattern I most definitely do not take into consideration who they are. If they design something I like then good for them. If not; I keep looking.

"Since we shared our new No Trump policy we have received an overwhelming amount of feedback, encouragement, love, and expressions of solidarity, and we are truly grateful. Many of you have asked us about making donations to Ravelry. Thank you so much for thinking of this, but the best way to support us is by supporting Ravelry designers, dyers, advertisers, and shops, particularly those run by people who are black, indigenous, people of color, members of the LGBTQ+ community, disabled crafters, those who belong to otherwise marginalized communities, and those who are speaking out on justice and equality issues to effect change. If you are specifically moved to donate, rather than making a donation to us we would like to suggest contributing to RAICES Texas, or finding an organization local to you that is doing anti-racism work or meeting the needs of the LGBTQ+ members of your community or other marginalized groups"

A reminder to support everyone inclusively is a great message to send out and I am glad a lot of people supported their non-Trump stance!

I very much admire the idea of what they are doing, it is very commendable and we should all do it but.....the wording is poor...if the word especially was changed to equally it would be a lot better. This is suggesting we pay more attention to minorities which suggests we are not treating them equally now.

Very bad wording of a very good thought

Pity

Well, not too surprising, but a very strange - almost humorous - example of inclusiveness. !! And then, perhaps they will not be surprised if all groups in this nation decide to only support members of their own group. That should quickly undo all the advances that have been made in more recent years and assure that this nation can never again be though of as united. This experiment in democracy and civilized governance will not have lasted very long at all.

I guess now they really are not all inclusive!
What will be next? In their avatar mentioning "black lesbian", etc? Supporting other black lesbians?
What a madness!!!

They are not asking you to support everyone particularly those run by people who are black, indigenous, people of color, members of the LGBTQ+ community, disabled crafters, those who belong to otherwise marginalized communities, and those who are speaking out on justice and equality issues to effect change. What about single mothers, working people. Oh what the heck what about supporting white people also not everyone with white skin is rich, live in mansions, or has the perfect job.

But they did also suggest that anyone supporting Donald Trump is a White Nationalist. Do you believe that is possibly true? I know several people who voted for Donald Trump because they did not want Hillary Clinton to be president. How do you account for that?

I am not angry I am so disappointed that race and anything else is being brought into What should never have been allowed. If anything it is a Big Turn Off for me. If you have something of value or interest it should promote itself. Not using other agendas to get noticed. . jmo

Having some difficulty understanding this reply. How does banning one point of view and calling 63 million American citizens strike you as being "INCLUSIVE?"

This is the direct link from trump to white nationalism. I don’t buy that all conservatives are white nationalists, but after all the evidence that has been provided, many trump supporters who agree with his policies are also supporting white nationalism.

They (ravelry ) does not want to support anything trump.
It is their business, they can choose to do what they want.
The majority of trump voters thinks act and behave like trump.
If you voted for the orange menace you support him, his policies , his agenda!!
Full stop! Period!
Voting for Don the con because you didn't like Hilary is beyond stupid!
If you didn't like the candidates? Don't vote!

I appreciate what you are asking here collectordolls. There is a long list of people that have chose to not include. That list has on it white people who marched with civil rights leaders, wealthy white people not on their good list who donate to minority causes, military members who sacrifice for all Americans, families that are multi-racial, non-minorities who voted for Barack Obama, first-responder who happen to not be one of their favored groups. Doctors, nurses, firefighters and fair-minded citizens. Begins to sound like the antithesis to everything America was trying to stand for. Some folks in this country have seen fit to spread hatred rather than wait for another election the America way. We are beginning to see the consequences.
