Well I thought all that could be said about Ravelery/politics had been said, over....and over...and over.... and that now it was old news and basically forgotten.

I thought that all that moaned about Raverlery/politics topics being in Main would have been delighted that it had been forgotten and that they were now extremely pleased to open up the Main section and only have knitting and crochet threads to read.

Surprise, surprise I was wrong......because here you all are discussing it yet again in Main agreeing yet again that it shouldn't be discussed and it shouldn't be in Main.

As my old dad would have said "it's too daft to laugh at"

Where have I been? I have been a member of Ralvelry for years and had no idea they had a "political side." I enjoy their patterns and go on the site just for them. I have looked at Ralvelry groups periodically if I am researching something. However, I am glad to learn they are supporting anti-hate speech. Knitting is where I go to when I want to de-stress. I like reading about knitting and people who knit almost as much as I like the craft itself.I will make more of an effort to purchase patterns now that I know I am supporting people who care about others and the future of our country. BTW.. I knew when I opened this post called "Can we Stop Now" was posted by someone who wanted to perpetuate a certain type of conversation. It has no business being in MAIN.

I, also totally agree. I have my own opinions and if someone posts a political rant it does NOT change my mind, and i doubt it changes anyone else's mind either. I check this site daily and definitely NOT for political opinions!!! "May God bless America!".

For days there have been many, many comments and responses about Ravelery's recent decision.

ALMOST everyone agrees that knitting sites are not, should not be, and nor do they want them to be, political forums.

Yet, passions run deep and political arguments continue and insults are hurled (under the guise of free speech), in the sections supposedly reserved for knitting comments and questions. If this is not what the majority of the members want and truly is the case.....

Can it please just stop?

Stop responding. Stop commenting. Stop the war of words. Turn your anger and frustration back to dropped stitches; badly written patterns; yarn barfs, hidden knots; scratchy yarn, and all the other maddening things about this art form we so love. Lets get back to focusing on kindness and being helpful to each other on this site.

Please. 💜

So the way to stop talking about a subject is to create a whole new topic about the subject that you no longer want to discuss? Seems counter productive to me.

I agree. If you ignore the topic and don't comment, it will go away.

I totally agree as I sit in the hospital by my husband whose just been diagnosed with cancer, which is in at least 80% of his bone marrow. I do believe it’s called priorities and I’ve certainly found mine

Thinking of you and sending hugs, prayers, shoulder, etc. whatever helps you this moment.
