My heart is broken as I learned today someone has been lying to me. Someone I thought I could trust. I just can't believe this person looked me straight in my face and lied.

All I can do is hand the pain and betrayal to God.

I trust with all my heart and have been lied to by my husband, mother, brothers....something I won’t do. I take after my father. If someone doesn’t want to talk about something I would rather they told me to go to hell. I’ll get over that butto lose trust because of lies...you can’t get that back.

I think that early conditioning has much to do with making liars. My mother’s quick, foul and cruel temper taught us early that lying could save us a flaying. Not always, for whoever was nearest got it, guilty or innocent. If she had only controlled her anger to teach us not to lie, we’d have had fonder memories. I have found my integrity over the years, but know well that apparent wide eyed honesty often is a mere deceit. I am not hurt when I find someone has lied to me, only wiser and warier and keen to know why. Some people think they are sparing another’s feelings by lying, but those who do cannot comprehend the betrayal that they might be inflicting on the person they lie to.

Forgive and be wary. Don’t let one person’s inadequacy mar your own good nature. Not everyone was raised to value truth as you do, but they could learn from you how hurtful it can be to lose trust. You can teach them without hurting them as much as they hurt you and without reacting with rejection or malice.

Sorry to hear your heart has been broken. Most of us will encounter someone like you have in our lifetime but I'm a firm believer in "what goes around comes around".

It is heartbreaking and I venture to say we have all experienced it. I'm so sorry you are experiencing this but you are directing it in the proper way, by giving it to God. He will heal your heart.

You can do that, but you can also confront that person and let them know how you feel and ask them why. So sorry, I know it’s devastating, but once trust is lost, it’s probably lost forever. Hugs.

Too many people are never made to suffer the consequences of their actions.

When I was a little girl, my mom caught me in a lie. I must say that to this very day it is even difficult for me to tell a white lie.

Alas, lots of people don't think twice about lying - even to those they supposedly love.

Then there are politicians . . . . . .
