I tried to join ravelry before I posted this request.they didn't give an explanation of why they aren't accepting new members at this time.i just assumed it was because of all the uproar over their policy on the president.

Ravelry does not accept members immediately. I remember this from when I joined years ago. You might have to wait a few days. In the meantime check Knitpicks and Knitting Pure and Simple for something you like.

Really? You can't sign up on Ravelry? There are new members today.

You might look here.
I didn't find which is what I was looking for but my loveknitting sign in works and my stuff is there.

Loveknitting also has patterns. I think they just changed their name to Lovecrafts. My patterns are all in my Ravelry favourites, or I would send you links to those. I love cardigans.

Check Cascade yarns, Skacel, PurlSoho, TinCanKnits, Churchmouse yarns to name a few. Also Jimmy Beans, Shibui knits, your local library for books and magazines, your local yarn shop and I'm sure others will fill in this list.

Try there is a search option for back issues. This is a free, on-line knitting magazine that has been around since 2002. I typed cardigan in the search bar and there were a great many results.
