I've been trying to sell some yarn this week and have had no responses. I see the other sellers are in the same boat. When will it seem desirable to buy yarn at reduced prices here? Should I wait until September, or is August ok? Or shall I raise my prices and sell on eBay? What do you think?

Try Craigslist. It's free.

I don't think KP is the best place to sell yarn & was never intended in that way either....you may have better luck selling it locally so there's no postage.

Yarn is something I wouldn’t even think of buying second hand. There is so much yarn available now at reasonable prices extensive colour range etc not worth the risk and bother second hand. Just my opinion.

Also you don't know the yarn content, there may be smoke odor, pet hair - allergies, moths, etc. I wouldn't either.

Hi, I have looked at 2nd hand yarn for sale on here & ravelry. But the prices are too high. Once postage is factored in & the other reasons stated by Judy M are taken into account, it is more beneficial to me to buy new from somewhere like Ice Yarns. Unless there is areal bargain to be had I am not interested. Sorry to sound harsh, but that is my reason.

Post on
Rav

Join groups that are like minded in love for that yarn and they usually have a wider pool of buyers

Be realistic in the price
Folks want a bargain not the same price after you add shipping

Common yarns are easy to find so understand
Walmart or Michael's yarn won't go in a flash like Codex for example

List dyelots as folks run out and want to match so dyelots can be a selling point
Best wishes

It really is not economically worth buying yarn on KP. Generally the yarn may be priced at an attractive price but when postage (which is ridiculously high) is added and for many of us foreign exchange as well you end up paying far more than if bought at LYS.

I have seen yarn for sale on here for more than it cost me to buy by using coupons and sales. Plus I have seen yarn and needles on here like I bought at Tuesday morning for a whole lot more than I paid plus you have the postage.

I destashed (some) using the Arts and Crafts section of Craigslist. I plan on doing a more thorough job this fall when the temperature cools.

I would suggest selling on Craigslist, Nextdoor or Facebook marketplace. I've bought yarn locally from all three. I will buy from Ebay, if it is exactly what I need to finish a project, hard to find, discontinued yarn or very old yarn. Good luck!

IDK
Michaels and ACMoore have had some wonderful yarn sales.
I think people are stocking up on new yarns.
